There will be a public ceremony on October 22 at 2:30 p.m. on the front lawn of the Town of Webb Union Free School for the dedication of Arbor Day in the Town of Webb.
Town of Webb Supervisor David Berkstresser is scheduled to proclaim October 22 as Arbor Day in Town of Webb.
This Town of Webb Arbor Day will be dedicated to Louie Ehrensbeck who passed away in 2021. As a father of 4, golf and soccer coach at the school, member of both the U.S. Downhill and Nordic ski teams, and bi-athlete competitor in the 1968 winter Olympics, Ehrensbeck was truly remarkable. Much like the trees of our Adirondack forest he was tall and mighty doing the work to make our community vibrant and resilient.
Utilizing a grant award from the USDA forest service through LivingADK, two Greenspire Linden trees will be planted out front of the Town of Webb school in his honor. All are invited to join us for the dedication.
The Town of Webb Arbor Day is a celebration of trees and how they have defined the town, their importance to the history of the development of the area and their importance in the future health of the community.
Between carbon sequestration, rainwater catchment, air purification and the aesthetic beauty they bring, trees really provide the behind the scenes breath of life to a community. In that spirit the Town of Webb would like to acknowledge people in the community like Ehrensbeck who for many years was doing the behind the scenes work so vital to the town’s survival.
